As many of you know, elecTONIC hosts a weekly podcast on uSTREAM dedicated to showcasing elecTONIC’s both newer and veteran DJs. Having grown substantially since its inception two semesters ago, it’s become a veritable midweek party as well as an online DJ showcase. But what the club’s officers are sometimes asked is, “I enjoy elecTONIC.TV, but I wish there was a way for me to listen to these sets on my computer, iPod, or other generic music listening device.”
Well, fear not! Thanks to eTV’s wonderful host Neeloy, we’ve got two downloadable sets from February 1st’s show. Both featuring some very tantalizing techno and tech house, they explore the different yet overlapping styles and sounds that represent the genres today.
Don’t forget to also check out JK’s set from last weeks eTV, and go to the main eTV page to access many more recorded shows, including this week’s!
Top Ten Techno Songs of 2012 – January’s Roundup of The Best Techno Tracks
It’s only been a month of 2012 and my ears have already been spoiled with some delicious techno dance floor destroying motha f*@!ing ch00n so I thought to share with yall! Enough of me yammering and let’s cut to the chase. Order does NOT mean ranking, what’s the point of ranking them when they are all perfect? (it’s like ranking a full room of beautiful women – something you just don’t do).

SEI A has been quiet…quietly being a genius and once again bending our perception of the beat-norm with these enigmatic beats. WHAT THE FLUX!
Bass king Christian Smith has produced a complete dance floor murder with nothing but a beat and some change. Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun…Get it Done!
They say that techno is for rebels and I say it maybe true…the new school techno is not trying to impress you, in fact it doesn’t give a f*** that’s why it’s good.
Honestly I couldn’t find a less distasteful album art version of this track, so there you go you know this song is about about bootyay.
Yea I realize at this point I stepping into dangerous territory, what’s dangerous? My middle name?
Wood peck me a woodpecker then peck me some wood pecking peckers.
Hot Release from the Dirty Dirty Dirty Bird Label, damn just sick.
Usually I’m not all about remixes of rock songs because it’s all usually done with poor taste, let me know what you think of this one?
That’s all for me right now. Drop me tube links in the comments if you find good tracks and i’ll add them. The last 2 spots are for yall.
Hey all! My name’s Tev, you might know me under my DJ names Inter or Hexaphobia, and I’m thrilled to be running the blog this semester. Expect to see some great music pop up here from artists young and old, mainstream and indie, current or retro. Any and all styles of electronic music are welcomed here.
2012 looks like it’s going to be a fun year, with full-length albums coming from Air, Paul Van Dyk, The Knife, Rusko, and The xx among others. Here are three somewhat smaller names that I think I’m going to be excited for in the coming months.
Shigeto
If you haven’t heard of Ghostly International, it’s a label you really need to follow. They’ve been putting out consistently great music from their talented roster, and Shigeto is among their best. His chilled glitch hop offerings are lush and deep, yet remain accessible to the average listener. His album “Lineage” comes out on the 31st, and in preparation he’s released two beautiful tracks from the album. Pick ‘em up.
Just a week ago, I had never heard of Australian house magician Tornado Wallace, but I can safely say that a week’s courtship is enough to fall in love with his impeccable grooves. His latest EP “Underground Sugar Caves” just hit Beatport, and once you’ve heard Insect Overlords, you might fall in love just as quickly as I have.
Frenchman Brodinski knows how to make good tunes. He’s spent years putting out quality tracks like “Peanuts Club” and “Fire Flames,” but I’ve got a hunch that 2012 is going to be his best year yet. In addition to his normal string of solid remixes, he and Guillaume Briere have put out an amazing mixtape under their recently unveiled side project, Gucci Vump. It’s slow, it’s sexy, and it’s sublime. Mmmmmm.
